WHO WILL CRY WHEN WE DIE?

Image
It is natural that if a person dies in a family, all the blood relations and other members will cry for the beautiful, meaningful and colorful memories the deceased has to make them witnessed and enjoyed in their life and the lessons and life-changing values they learnt  from him. The people very close feel great pain for the loss of their well-wisher or friend..  But there may be some members also in the family of the deceased, who cry more than the blood relations, for the sake of Society. Since times immemorial we have been hearing the story of Lord Rama from Ramayana, an Indian Epic.  He was loved by all, and even by His enemies.  He was the embodiment of a perfect human being.  He was given the title of " Maryada Purushothama " considering him as a Supreme being for His unbroken principles as an ideal son, a wise brother, a caring husband, a good friend, the best disciple, etc., but most importantly a notable and admiring king in the clan of ...

SELFISHNESS

Image
We hate others who are selfish but justify ourselves when the same feature( selfishness) is within us.  Lack of sympathy has been seen as one of the roots of selfishness. This trait puts an ugly mark on the soul of an individual. Some selfish people treat others as an option whenever they require some favour from them. After their work is over they treat them like strangers. In Mahabharat, an Indian epic, Duryodhana, son of Dhritarashtra, the king of the Kauravas Dynasty, supported Karna, who was an Archer and the son of a low caste person ie., Sutha in a tournament with his selfish motive. Karna was not allowed to showcase his skills on the basis of his caste.  Duryodhana with his selfish motive crowned Karna as king of a small country called Anga, to take revenge against Pandavas who are s ons of King Pandu, as he desperately wanted a good Archer on his side to match Arjuna. Likewise in Ramayana an Indian epic, there is an instance of selfishness that...

FOOD CONSUMPTION

Image
Food has major role in human existence. It influences not just our physical health, but also our consciousness. There is a saying "You are what you eat". So we must chose  the food which can cure both physical and mental ailments and also  help us in making spiritual advancement in our lives. Lord Srikrishna in Bhagavat Githa, said that food determines the gunas (satvic, rajasic and thamasic) of  human beings in Chapter 17 verses 8 to 10. Here is the bri ef description about them: Satvic foods are those that lead to clarity of mind and physical health. These foods are very dear to those of goodness. They promote longevity, virtues, health, strength, happiness, joy etc., Fruits, vegetables, milk, milk products, rice, wheat, honey, juices etc., come under this category. Rajasic foods are those that have a stimulating effect on the mind and body. Those foods lead to aggressiveness and irritability. They are very bitter, sour, salty, hot, pungent ...

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BELIEF AND FAITH.

Image
Generally, we know that faith is confidence or trust in a person. It is very essential between wife and husband to lead their marital life happily. In the religious view faith and confidence are both required for spiritual growth. If we come to the point of realization of God, it is the real foundation of the entire structure of spirituality. Faith in reality and faith in the right course is meant for realization. It is a lively link between mortal and immortal and is one of the six sympathies of the third sadhana of yoga. Regarding faith , we know the story of bakth Prahlad son of Hiranyakasyap, an evil daitya king. Prahlad is a devoti of Lord Vishnu. Hiranya Kashyap did not like his son to be the bhaktha of his enemy Lord Vishnu. Despite several warnings from his father, Prahlad continues to worship Lord Vishnu.  Then Hiranyakashyap decided to kill Prahlad. He adapted each and every method to kill his son. He even tried to trample his son with elephants also. But Prahl...

Subtlest Means

The time has come that the man is awakened to the need for Spirituality.  The force of Creation has created outward tendencies in man.  That is why in course of time, he has created several worlds which have resulted in making him complex. The present imperfect state of mind is the result of his own doings. Unfortunately, the basic fact that God is simple and can be achieved by simple means is lost sight of.  It has been preached from almost all platforms that realization of the Absolute(God) is beyond the capacity of the common man.  This mistaken notion, prompted by self-styled gurus, has settled down in almost everybody's heart, and today they have even lost the craving for higher aspirations. The common man has as much right and capacity to realize God as those sitting in the hierarchy of religion, rather more.  What is needed is a correct and natural path followed with complete devotion. Sahaj Marg urges people to realize this simple truth and apply it...
