How to Make a Man and a Nation Great!

“Desamante Matti kaadoyi, desamante manushuloyi” is a Telugu proverb which is well known to the people of Andhra Pradesh. And about the great visionary Swami Vivekananda, every Indian has a great respect.

Let me remind to many of you and unveil to some of you, what he has said about the course of making a man and in turn his nation great.

Three things are necessary to make every man great and every nation great.

1. Conviction of the powers of Goodness,

2. Absence of Jealousy and Suspicion,

3. Helping all those who are trying to be and do good.

The great secret is absence of jealousy. Be always ready to concede to the opinions of your brethren and try always to conciliate.

Constant remembrance of God, and how to achieve it?

Constant remembrance(Smarana, dhyana, or abhyasa of God) is not 'thinking of God every second', which is impossible for the restless mind, but cultivating a deep, natural undercurrent of awareness of God's presence in the heart, which flows alongside all duties.  It is not just when you sit in meditation, but also while living, working, and interacting with others.  This is not merely the mechanical repetition of God's name, but an inner state of feeling connected to Him. Smarana  is often described as an unbroken stream of thought directed towards the Divine, leading to a constant state of awareness. The word Karma means action.  It comes from the Sanskrit root 'KRI'.which means to act. It refers to the result of past actions, present actions and actions we will perform in the future. The karmas of the past, present and future are called Sanchita , Prarabdha and Agami respectively. SANCHITHA:   These are the result of actions that have been gathered in this birth and all other previous births.  PRARABDHA:  These are the present actions that we are doing now in this lifetime and their results. AGAMI:             These are future actions that result from our present actions. Varna and Caste System

Varna is the nature of an individual based on gunas(Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas) and activities in  which one is interested in a particular kind of job or occupation to earn a living, and Caste means a lineage of an individual about which job or profession his/her very early ancestors used or made to do as a family profession. The whole varna was made keeping in view the dharma that one had to follow.  Varna was never considered by birth if we go through the following instances of our great literature. In Srimad Bhagavad Gita Chapter IV Verse 13, Lord Krishna clearly states that the four Varnas are based on their work and their basic nature and not related to birth at all. "chātur-varṇyaṁ mayā sṛiṣhṭaṁ guṇa-karma-vibhāgaśhaḥ  tasya kartāram api māṁ viddhyakartāram avyayam" The four varnas have been created by Me through a classification of the gunas and activities. Offering Heart(Hrudaya Kamalam) to God.

  Man worships God, who gave him human birth in many ways. During the worship, he offers leaves, flowers, fruits or water to the extent of his ability.  It may be that offering this way is a sign of gratitude, but is a human being really capable of offering to God? When we offer anything to God, the materials in that offering are all the creation of God. If we consider this perspective, we can say that it is not so perfect, because there is nothing of our own in that material offering. God is the one who created the entire Universe. Adopting Vegetarianism is easy, being Health conscious and compassionate towards Animals

If Humans become genuinely spiritual not for the sake of society but for one's own self, become more health conscious, develop compassion and love towards Animals, they switch over to vegetarianism. We don't intend to hurt any of your feelings, but as it was rightly said by ISKCON, "You are what you eat!" This is also correct, because your food is mainly responsible for your behavior whether you are intelligent or cunning or lazy or anything else. Everything we eat contributes in one way or the other to one of our qualities. If you eat food derived from the plants, you would be peaceful, sharp, healthy and with good behavior. If you eat more meat and less vegetarian, you would become lazy, more prone to illnesses and ill-mannered in your behavior. This can be noted, in fact, by any one of us observing our surrounding people whose food habits are known to us.
